Newly launched Findhorn Watershed Initiative Deer Forum offering a taste of venison at Logie Timber Festival

Catchment-scale nature restoration project, the Findhorn Watershed Initiative, is set to raise awareness of its recently launched Deer Forum and Deer Management Strategy at Logie Timber Festival this weekend 7 and 8 September 2024.

Launched in May 2024 after 12-months of co-development, the Findhorn Watershed Deer Forum is a bottom up, place-based membership network through which landowners and managers from across the Findhorn watershed can work together to drive forward a collaborative and progressive approach to deer management.

Currently comprised of landowners, estate managers, deer managers and foresters representing 25 landholdings across a 1,300km2 watershed area, the forum was made possible thanks to the expertise and support of Dr. Linzi Seivwright of Caorann Consulting, and builds upon and compliments the work of the existing Monadhliath Deer Management Group and West Findhorn and Moyness Unit.

Promoting upcoming events and offering local venison samples, the Findhorn Watershed Deer Forum will be exhibiting alongside the Highland Branch of the British Deer Society at Logie Timber Festival.

Membership of the forum is on a voluntary basis and open to all those who actively manage deer or have a practical interest in deer management within the River Findhorn watershed.
